You only live once.
My Self-Summary
I'm a dry, passionate, smart and charming guy who is on the site to either find a relationship or just a quick fling really - whatever floats your boat.
I'm into films, socialising, keeping fit, heated debates, moaning about religion, spag-bol, acting, history, politics, philosophy, cats and talking to randomers.
I'm not sure if I'm a pragmatist or an idealist - an optimist or a pessimist. I guess it varies by the day. Right now I think I am somewhere in the middle. Yup.
What I’m doing with my life
Hmm, well I'm currently working as a recruiter in the outskirts of London. I finished uni last year and miss it to bits. I hope to go travelling when I save up enough money. I'm like one of the guys with a postcard of beautiful foreign place on the dashboard ... except I don't have a car so I'll have to settle with the bathroom mirror or something.
I also volunteer with my local MP (who is quite a senior fellow at the moment) when I can. If you haven't already guessed I'm quite into political discourse and all that wonderful stuff that really works on a first date. I'm also into scarcasm. And don't worry I'm not, nor will I ever be a bloody Tory. I'm about as left-leaning as they come on social and economic issues and David Cameron is a dick. If you are a Tory, though, don't be put off - it may be interesting to take the piss out of each other.
I make films sometimes, which I will explain in the next section. Brap.
I’m really good at
I'm an aspiring film-maker that would like to make a career out of it but I'm also realistic about the chances of that actually happening. I write, direct and edit all my films. I need to get into contact with some more actors, though, so if you're an actor then let me know.
I'm also good at engaging with people coming from all different types of backgrounds. The more I learn about the cultures of others the better. This is why travelling and specifically going off the beaten track is something that is very important to me.
Oh, and I'm okay at cooking, but it's also one of the few things that makes me proper stressed.
The first things people usually notice about me
"What happened to that guy's clothes?" - I'll explain later.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
With books I tend to be quite picky and end up not reading as much as I would like. I'm looking for a good vehicle to discover new stuff so let me know if you have any recommendations. I enjoy Murakami's work and biographies of people I am interested in ... which is most people.
Film ... god, I am an unashamed film buff so the list would be pretty long. To name a few ... The Godfather, The Seventh Seal, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, La Haine, The Return, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Vertigo, Aguirre: The Wrath of God, The Motorcycle Diaries, Barry Lyndon, A Fish Called Wanda ... etc etc.
Music ... again, there is a lot. Right now I'm listening to Laura Marling, Marina and the Diamonds, Billie the Vision and the Dancers, The Magnetic Fields, Seabear, Ellie Goulding, The Blind Boys of Alabama ... etc.
I fucking love David Bowie, Aimee Mann, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan. I listen to those guys all the time.
Food ... I would honestly eat anything that's offered to me ... even if it was raw sheep testicles being offered by some remote African tribe. Fuck it. You only live once.
The six things I could never do without
1. My sense of hearing.
2. Friends.
3. A steady stream of artistic endeavour.
4. The occasional lie-in.
5. My massive imagination.
6. Something to look forward to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and what to do with it. I don't want to get in the mindset where I think that I've done all I can do with my life and I might as well just stop trying or something. So yes, I guess I spend a lot of time thinking about how I should avoid that mindset.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going out with friends or sleeping in preparation for Saturday night ... or both! Because they are all pretty spread out across the country at the moment, the night-outs offer a lot of variety.
I'm also quite happy to stay in - I don't function solely on alcohol and the hang-overs are never missed.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm quite an exhibitionist that enjoys the occasional streak. What's wrong with the naked body? I get well confused about its supposed taboo at times. I do like my body. Everyone should be proud of theirs.
It's not even that private, but it seems weird to mention something really private on here.
